Even though two patients may have the same type of cancer, their responses to medication can vary. Personalized Medicine involves using different drugs tailored to each individual, enhancing the chances of curing cancer more effectively.
One of the most common perceptions of cancer treatment is the chemotherapy or radiation therapy, often associated with pain and discomfort. Side effects such as constant nausea or hair loss can cause patients to feel anxious and discouraged, even before treatment begins.
The Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital understands these concerns. To address this, they have developed the Tumor Biobank to collect leftover tissue samples from the cancer diagnosis and treatment process, using them to discover novel cancer biomarkers/ treatment targets and develop Cancer Organoid Models for drug testing, evaluating patient responses to treatment , and predicting potential side effects.
