Amidst the rapid technological advancements that push us to accelerate our learning, we must not lose sight of the importance of sustaining our fundamental way of life as Thai people.
• True or false? The country known as the “Rice Bowl” with abundant resources, is gradually losing its balance due to a lack of sustainable resource management.
• True or false? Thailand’s agricultural wisdom, which is the backbone of the nation, remains fragmented and has not been systematically developed to create sustainable livelihoods and income for future generations.
• True or false? Food innovation benefits large corporations but cannot create genuine competitiveness within communities.
• True or false? Thai people often overlook these issues, believing that the “Rice Bowl” condition will persist indefinitely, forgetting the potential negative impact on the basic livelihoods of their children and grandchildren in near future.
Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus was founded to be more than just an academic institution. We believe that our rich resources, spanning over 7,000 acres of greenery, hold the “Wisdom of the Western ASEAN” that goes beyond textbook knowledge. It serves as a “Platform for a New Approach to Sustainable Living,” elevating agricultural competitiveness and the well-being of Thai people sustainably. For over two decades, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus has been dedicated to creating a “Platform for Sustainable Living” to improve the standard of living for Thai people across generations.
Moving forward, our goal is to ensure that Thailand’s reputation as a “Rice Bowl” remains crystal clear for future generations. However, this goal may not be realized without adequate funding to develop and promote this green land as a rich source of learning, innovation in agriculture and the environment, and a hub for ongoing education and beneficial research for the Thai community. Everyone can contribute by supporting Mahidol University Endowment Fund. Donated funds will be managed and allocated to various projects under the Sustainable Living Model to benefit all members of our society.
